The Big Bend Cowboys dropped a close 5-3 game against Bay Area in game 2 of their playoff series. Starter Marcus Thronton was knocked-out early on questionable calls by the officiating crew, and some timely Toros hitting. Brandon Castolenia came in and delivered a clutch long relief appearance to keep the Cowboys in the game, going 6 innings with no earned runs. Toros Started Jake Leonhardt did just enough to keep the Cowboys offense off balance and get the job done for his team, but excpect the Cowboys to come out swinging tonight. In the pivotal game of the series it will be Toros starter Joe Brown against Cowboys starter Curt Dixon for the right to play in the CBL championship series. Both pitchers are minor league veterans and have an arsenal of effective pitches. It will come down to run support for a thrid straight game, but all the Cowboys are up for the challenge and expect to be playing at Alexandria this weekend for the Ferguson Jenkins Trophy. *Due to a CBL rules change Toros Joe Hicks and Mickey Cassidy were allowed to play in Game 2 after being ejected in Game 1, in the playoffs it now takes 2 ejections to warrant a suspension. |
